In June 2022, a promising pilot project for virtually emission-free ship dismantling commenced in Kiel, Germany, utilizing ANT AG’s waterjet technology. A similar pilot project is in the planning stages in Bremen.
The waterjet abrasive suspension system employed in these projects harnesses the power of high-pressure water jets mixed with abrasive materials, allowing for precise cutting of steel plates up to one meter in thickness. Even 10-millimeter-thick ship steel can be cut at a remarkable speed of about 2 meters per minute.

Water jet cutting offers a multitude of advantages in ship recycling. It produces no CO2 emissions, fumes, or slag, aligning perfectly with eco-friendly initiatives.
